An American sweet stout. 4.69% ABV
Sam Adams is a good bet, generally, for seasonal beers. This stout has a nice, smooth finish in keeping with the holiday o' comfort. Slightly sweet, it would make a good year-round beer, as well.
a little too heavy of a taste I like a lot of other Sam's beer much better
I agree with many people on here 3.5 stars. Not a noteworthy stout, but nothing that's going to make me NOT drink it again.
Appearance: Very dark, like a good cream stout should be. poured with a half inch of slightly carbonated head. Nice lace retention.
Smell: Deep roasted hints with a slight sweet coffee aroma.
Taste & Mouthfeel: Wow this one is rich that instantly adds a little color to the mouth. You do get hints of a sweet caramel taste coming through. Really it's main tasting point is a deep malty toasted flavor that makes up the bulk of the beer.
Drinkability: This is one to cuddle up to on a cold night. Very warming. While not too high in ABV, it is deceptively deceiving. Very nice attempt at a cream/sweet stout.
Grade = A-
one of my personal favorites, second best Sam's I've had the first being Sam's Octoberfest...
