With the holiday season behind us, the team here at LivingSocial has been working overtime on cleansing our interface and data. You may have noticed that we recently updated our search results page, to include a unified experience to add items to your collection. The search results page also now displays 10 items per page and includes more information about each item in our database, including the number of adds, reviews, and a brief description. We also no longer search Amazon, by default, for an item. You can still search one of our foreign indexes by selecting one from the drop down in the top right corner.

In addition to search results, we have been slowly rolling out visual updates to our site, including our new header, and improved home page. These visual updates go hand-in-hand with the work our moderation team is doing. As our 2009 resolution at LivingSocial, we resolve to clean our databases of all duplicate data. If you have attempted to add something to our database recently, you may have noticed that we now require users to have 20 items in their collection before they can add anything to our database. Additionally, we’ve published guidelines for adding items in each of our verticals and more prominent links on each item page to “report inaccurate information.”
Over the next few months, you will likely see a drop in the size of your collection as we continue to purge duplicate items. We will continue to roll-out additional improvements to our moderation platform and our automatic detection of duplicate items.
In the meantime, try out our new search results, and please don’t hestitate to drop us a line at feedback@livingsocial.com or swing by http://getsatisfaction.com/livingsocial.
